At St Francis Xavier’s College, we define homework as any learning that is completed outside of the taught curriculum. This includes traditional homework style tasks, but also encompasses a wider range of independent learning activities.
Learning outside of the school curriculum is an essential part of a good education in order to equip students to function as independent lifelong learners. Regular homework is important as it encourages personal organisation and gives students the opportunity to practise and extend work undertaken in class.
Students should become increasingly responsible for their own learning and time management, especially during preparation for examinations.
